9U-10U Reds Team Information
Overview
The goal of the youngest members of the Reds family will be to have each player introduced to the Reds Way of playing and learning the game of baseball. The coaches will teach each player the proper fundamentals and skills of all positions to improve their overall skills and confidence it takes to compete at the highest level of travel baseball. The 9U & 10U Reds will have a complete winter practice schedule along with a 20-24 game schedule that will allow them to compete against other locally based travel programs in the New England region with divisional doubleheaders along with local and regional tournaments.
Roster
This team will carry a full roster of players (12+ full-time & potentially 1 alternate player). Each full-time player will be invited to all workouts & games. Playing time is at the discretion of the coaches. Pitching will dictate how players are positioned & playing time is distributed during both games of the doubleheader. With a 12+ man roster at this age the coaches will stress to all of the players the proper mechanics & fundamentals of pitching, while 2 of the players on the roster will also learn the proper mechanics of catching. The Alternate player will work out with the team during the winter & regular season practices & will be invited to dress for all home games. Playing time for the alternate be on a need-be basis. Knowing that players at this age level will be participating in their local town baseball leagues, the coaches & administrators understand there will be a few conflicts with their Reds schedule. All 9U & 10U players must still follow the commitment outlined within the contract to be eligible to continue playing on their respective Reds team during the season. To truly make this a positive experience for all players, parents & coaches involved, we ask that each parent & player reviews the Middlesex Reds Tuition/Participation Contract to make sure that all parties agree to the rules stated in the contract in regards to conflicts & number of allowed missed practices & games.
